Since reading your Across the Universe trilogy and I just can't get enough of sci-fi! :D So I was wondering if you had any sci-fi book recommendations?

"You say…that you are hoping to get round to writing a book yourself one day, and let me tell you - when you eventually do, it’s a great feeling to hear someone say they liked what you put your heart and soul into for so long."

Here there be Dragons (2/2) DRAFT

[part 1]

Saturday morning I wake up to a vibrating buzz that is approximately ten times louder than what my phone has ever managed to achieve,  and it’s strong enough that my entire bed seems to be shaking as well. I reach for my phone as I rub my eyes blearily, but it’s quite, no missed calls or texts or ringing alarms. Instead, I finally notice that it’s absolutely sweltering in my room and I’m laying a pool of my own sweat because there’s a very happy space heater pressed up against my left side underneath the blankets. I peel up the edge of my comforter and am greeted by a pair of slitted lavender eyes that look far too lively for me at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. I glare at him.

Dragon update

So the draft of my dragon short story is finished, thank god.

it is also 18 pages long, which is unfortunately 3 over the workshop limit, so now it’s time to chop, chop, chop (*cries*)

However, i reeeeally like this story and enjoyed writing it so much that i’m thinking about continuing it in the future, so i’ll be saving an uncut copy

i guess i’ll post the second half tonight, and lucky you, you get the uncut version! (i’ll probably eventually be posting the entire final workshop version as well once it’s finished)

and if this is all completely news to you, you can check out Part 1 here

Really? That’s so cool! No, i was nearby to see Mindy, but I go to Denison, which is like an hour away. But I go through Delaware whenever i go home, and i’ll actually be at OWU a couple times next semester for track meets!

I got to meet Mindy McGinnis yesterday! Yay for Ohio authors who actually tour in Ohio! I got to talk to her for a minute or so after she signed my books, and she’s super nice. I’m kicking myself for not asking for a picture, but I can tell you we both looked fab (and she said she liked my skirt). And just so everyone knows, I am STILL giggling over those water bottle covers, and have taken to calling them “irony bottles.”

p.s. a bit of advice i picked up for my fellow Ohioans: Mindy says keep an eye on Fundamental Books in Delaware, who ran the signing, because they apparently have authors through all the time!
